Finding a good Web HostTo be clear and practical about this subject we made the following questions. To find a good webhost you must ask yourself this:
How much money do I want to spend for a web host and in relation to that: what does the webhost package contain, how much do I get and how much do I need.To starting businesses I mostly advice them to find a webhost that gives them the opportunity to grow. If the business grows fast as the websites traffic(=websites visitors per time event) does, they can upgrade their webhosting package and adjust it seamlessly to the increase. So with other words: you start with a cheaper starters package for instance and check out the current results how your site is going. You see a sudden increase of visitors on a scale that you need more bandwith, you can step over to a dedicated server hosting package and adjust things. This will undoubtly mean the price for hosting goes up, but you can earn that back with smart advertising and eventually affiliate programs.( I will come back on that subject later to explain more about it.)
How important is reliabilty: The more uptime they guarantee, the better. 99% uptime is the minimum required value. You have to look for 97%-99% guaranteed uptime. Many webhost have the habbit of doing maintainence in the late evening hours: 12:00 PM - 5 AM. This is a factor you must considerate that when your host is physically located in a foreign country. You might getting problems (due to the time zone difference) with the uptime of the webserver. A webhost that makes daily backups is nowadays a standard. Very necessarily for cases as hacked websites, or crashed servers/sites to create a quick restore of your website. You cant afford to lose clients=money to have events happend like I just described. |
